Marvel’s Spider-Man: Insomniac May Have Scrapped a Multiplayer Mode

Marvel’s Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games was apparently planning to include a multiplayer mode in the 2018 hit.

As reported by PC gamera Twitter user @dniwetamp Various mentions of multiplayer were found within the files of Spider-Man’s recent PC remaster, but it’s unclear what stage of development this mode was in.

In a tweet (below), the file references what appears to be a competitive mode, where two players playing as Peter Parker and Miles Morales compete to be the “good Spider-Man.” The so-called “winner’s message” is either “Peter Parker is a good Spider-Man” or “Miles Morales is a good Spider-Man”.

More explicitly, the files are further listed under the multiplayer menu list Player 1, Player 2, Red Team, Blue Team, Character 1, and Character 2. , Character2 displays this text. ”

Both the original Spider-Man game and the Miles Morales spin-off are purely single-player experiences, despite each featuring a pair of Spider-Mans, but we’ll see if multiplayer is also mentioned in the semi’s files. It would be interesting to check. A sequel coming to PC later this year.

A full sequel is also in development at Insomniac and will be released in 2023. Some have wondered if this code actually alludes to that game. This would see Peter and Miles working together a little more directly, but no official statement has been made. About the sequel multiplayer.

The PC port of the original game was released just a few days ago on August 12th. That means further digging into the file may follow. The launch has been a success so far, with Spider-Man becoming his second largest PlayStation Studios Steam port to date, and his second largest after God of War.
