Sony isn’t the only hardware manufacturer to raise the price of its systems in response to the global economy. Meta announced this year that it is increasing the price of its popular Meta Quest 2 VR headset by $100.

Experts say global supply chains are still under pressure leading to these price increases. Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis suggests that Sony may be immune to higher prices as demand continues.

Supply chains have been under stress since the COVID-19 pandemic almost began, resenting the global economy and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
