Monster Hunter Devs Explain Why Lagiacrus Won’t Be in Sunbreak

Ryozo Tsujimoto, a monster hunter producer, explained why the popular monster “Lagia Cruz” is not returning to Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.

Tsujimoto and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Director Fuyunori Gobu talked to IGN about future expansions and explained in detail why Lagiacrus was handed over, despite “there is certainly a desire”.

“Unfortunately, Lagiacrus is a very technical … difficult monster to implement. It’s very snake-like and all the parts touch the ground at different moments,” Tsujimoto explained. “So it’s like a writhing monster on earth.”

Tsujimoto continued to explain that in recent Monster Hunter games, the variety of terrain and its many slopes and falls make it particularly difficult to implement monsters like Lagiacrus.

“I would like to look back someday, but it’s a little difficult just because of the technical difficulties,” Tsujimoto lamented.

Lagiacrus was introduced as a flagship monster as one of the first Leviathan monsters in Monster Hunter Try. Like Monster Hunter Generations Mizutsune and Rookie Almadron, Rise has other Leviathans, but Lagiacrus has some additional design issues that don’t seem to be shared by other Leviathans.

First, neither Mizutsune nor Almudron drags their bodies to the ground like Lagiacrus does.Part of Mizutsune’s chest May Both make special movements when touching the floor, but neither has as many points of contact with the ground as Lagiacrus does in normal mode of movement.

The second was created for both Rise’s Leviathan to fight land hunters. Lagiacrus, on the other hand, was originally designed to fight completely underwater most of the time to take full advantage of Tri’s unique underwater combat mechanics. Moving to a new game is obviously not an easy task.

Lagiacrus is almost a roster of Monster Hunter World, and even more Monster Hunter World prototype exhibited at GDC 2018 panelHowever, it was finally abandoned in the world for similar reasons.

As reported by Gaijin HunterKaname Fujioka, Executive Director of Monster Hunter World, explained in an episode of Capcom’s Monster Hunter Radio Podcast why he didn’t use Lagiacrus for Monster Hunter World. In essence, the problem is that much of the body lies on the ground, reflecting Tsujimoto’s explanation. According to Fujioka, the team took a second shot to get Lagiacrus to work in an expanded version of Monster Hunter World, Iceborn, but couldn’t make it happen. This description is not a precursor to another “snake-like” monster in the series, Najarara. Najarara’s body also has many points of contact with the ground.

On the contrary, Lagiacrus Did it Appears only on land in Monster Hunter Generations (and Generations Ultimate). It wouldn’t have been a problem if both games were built on the same engine. In addition, Monster Hunter Generation was meant to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Monster Hunter, so it would have been pretty obvious even without the flagship cover monsters. The alternative was to include a land-only kit with a disability in the most familiar map.

Introduced in Tri and rebuilt for Rise, Flooded Forest is one such map well known to Lagiacrus and one of the reasons fans wanted to win and come back. .. In Trie, the flooded forest was completely characterized by an underwater environment. However, with the confirmation of the absence of Lagiacrus, it can be inferred that the underwater combat has ended so far.

When deciding which monsters to include, the developers stated that “the design goal was to affect all monsters” and “to blend well with the unique gameplay elements of the new title” to return monsters.

Sunbreak hasn’t won Lagiacrus, teeth Seeing the resurrection of Selegios, the flagship monster of Monster Hunter 4, further Brand new monster hunter monster, Like Luna Garon. You can see Luna Garon’s brand new gameplay in the video above.

Sunbreak is described as a major extension of Monster Hunter Rise, Similar to Monster Hunter World Iceborn. This includes new Master Rank quests, new flagship Elder Dragons, Marzenos, and improved quality of life. Sunbreak will be released simultaneously on both PC and Switch on June 30, 2022...
