In August, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said there would be no Switch price increase “at this time.” Currently, the standard Switch retails for $299.99, the handheld-only Switch Lite for $199.99, and the premium Switch OLED model for $349.99.
Price increases are becoming more and more common in the electronics industry and even in the toy industry. Sony has increased the price of the PlayStation 5 in most regions of the world, Meta has increased the price of the Meta Quest 2, and even LEGO sets are getting more and more expensive.
Elsewhere in its financial results, Nintendo reported Switch sales surpassing 114 million units and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reaching nearly 50 million units. Hybrid consoles aren’t going away any time soon, with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Fire Emblem Engage, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom still on the horizon.
