Overwatch 2 Beta Gets Release Date, Sign-Ups Open June 16

The next Overwatch 2 Beta is officially dated. Blizzard announced in a tweet that the playtest will start on June 28th. This means that fans can get the sequel within two weeks.

According to Blizzard’s tweet, the beta will include Junker Queen, new characters unveiled at Xbox + Bethesda Showcase on Sunday, and access to new maps. Additional details will be released on June 16th with sign-up.

The new Overwatch 2 Beta follows the closed alpha test in late April, when the series reached its peak on Twitch viewership. Since then, Blizzard has announced that the PvP portion of Overwatch 2 will be released in Early Access on October 4th and will be free to play.

Overwatch 2, which has been in development for several years, has undergone some major changes. Most notable of these is the decision to release the PvP and PvE sections of the game separately. Overwatch 2 is also restructuring the team structure to 5v5 instead of 6v6, while rebuilding the existing hero roster.

More Overwatch 2 information will be revealed at the game showcase event on June 16th. Until then, keep an eye on IGN for all the big announcements as the Summer of Gaming continues.
