Overwatch 2: Blizzard Apologizes for Shaky Launch, Promises Fixes for Queues and More

Between server errors, broken account merges, and a strange SMS requirement that locked some players with prepaid phone plans out of the game, Overwatch 2’s launch on Tuesday was pretty controversial. Blizzard has now apologized and is working to fix some of these issues.

Blizzard is also working to improve server stability — after countless players have dealt with crashes, long queues, and login difficulties, we’ve patched our login servers and added some updates to our player database to reduce the load. Finally, some players who have merged multiple accounts have addressed missing inventory items. To combat this, Blizzard is now rolling out his UI fix encouraging more players to merge their accounts. The company also guarantees players that they haven’t lost any data.
