A trio of new characters are coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass DLC. Double Dash’s Petey Piranha, Mario Kart 7’s Wiggler and Tour’s Kamek will join the roster of playable characters, as revealed in today’s Nintendo Direct.
Additionally, a new course called Squeaky Clean Sprint has been revealed to be one of eight courses coming as part of the fifth wave. Gameplay showed the character driving a bathroom with a bathtub, sink, and toilet. No release date has been revealed, but we do know that Wave 5 is coming this summer.
Wave 5 of the Booster Course Path marks the penultimate wave of tracks and characters before the DLC ends with wave 6. All in all, it adds 48 tracks and his six new characters to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s already impressive line-up of content. Last wave saw the return of a fan-favorite bard.
In our review, we rated Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as excellent, stating, “It’s the best in the series so far and has all the content you need. Returning players will love this game so far.” I’ve seen it, and it’s been completely overhauled.” Battle mode and its 5 additional ways to play are great reasons to pick this mode. “
