Pikmin 4 is set to release exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023. The latest entry in the series, in which tiny plant-like aliens explore a strange planet, introduces several new elements, including Ice Pikmin and a roly-poly dog named Oatch. What is Pikmin 4?
Pikmin is a series of real-time strategy games dating back to 2001 when the original titles appeared on the Nintendo GameCube. This his fourth entry has been a long wait, as Shigeru Miyamoto said in 2015 that it was “very close to completion.” After 7 years, it will finally be released in July.
This article introduces new Ice Pikmin that free enemies and the environment to help the alien Flora navigate the strange planet they find themselves on. The plants aren’t alone this time either, with the help of a round dog called Oatchi that can break down barriers and carry Pikmin on its back while swimming through ponds and puddles.
Overall, it looks like a lot of fun for fans of the series and anyone interested in colorful, cartoonish strategy games.
