PlatinumGames ‘Extremely Sorry’ About Closing Babylon’s Fall, But Isn’t Changing Live Service Plans

PlatinumGames apologizes for the impending shutdown of Babylon’s Fall servers, but also said it will not affect future live service plans.

and Interview with VGCAtsushi Inaba, CEO of PlatinumGames said: fans and players. “

He continued, “And any disappointment we may have caused to our fan base, we are very sorry for the fact that we made our die-hard fans feel that way as developers. As a developer, it doesn’t make me happy for our work to provide players with feelings other than fun and enjoyment.”

Unfortunately, Inaba could not elaborate on the closure of Babylon’s Fall, pointing out that it would be up to Square Enix to divulge details about it.

But despite the game’s failures, PlatinumGames still wants to invest in live service games. “While we have learned a lot from this experience, our future plans and outlook regarding doing live service games have not changed at all. Live service games are definitely what we want to do and we are working hard to move forward. We do,” Inaba explains.

He further explains that live service games have two pillars: fun gameplay mechanics and live service elements. Both must work together to create a great experience.

He concludes: We want to focus on maintaining the connection and balance between these two pillars. “

Babylon’s Fall was released in February of this year to negative reviews. The studio recently announced that one year later he will be shutting down its online servers on February 28, 2023.
