Professor Layton’s New Switch Game Is Also Bringing Back Luke

Professor Layton is making an epic return to Nintendo consoles in Professor Layton and the New World on Steam, Level 5 has revealed that his trusty assistant Luke Triton will also be returning.

Level 5 recently released new trailer An upcoming detective puzzle game that greatly expands on last month’s brief Nintendo Direct announcement teaser.

The trailer opens with Luke narrating a letter to Professor Layton. The trailer reveals that it’s been a year since Luke broke up with Layton at the end of 2010’s Professor Layton and the Unleashed Future, and he’s settled into his new life in America.

Luke is writing a letter to the professor for something “very mysterious” “made for Professor Layton and his disciples”. It shows how he flies to the town inspired by and reunites with Luke.

In The New World of Steam, the power relationship between professors and apprentices may be slightly different. Whereas Luke has started to make a name for himself in America, Layton is just an anonymous gentleman.

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is the tenth entry in the Layton franchise and the eighth entry starring Hershel Layton himself. We haven’t seen a better professor in a starring role since the 2014 crossover with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
