Redfall: Exclusive New Details on Jacob’s Backstory and Abilities | IGN First

Each character in Arkane Studio’s Redfall has unique talents. Either they were invented, they came along with the job, or in Jacob’s case they were mysteriously given to him by a vampire. In the exclusive character trailer above, learn more about Jacob’s background and how he gained supernatural powers.

Jacob is an experienced sniper, and uses his new abilities in combination with the skills he had in Kit prior to his arrival in Redfall. Check stuff.

  • power 1: Raven – Command a Raven to fly forward and mark enemies.
  • power 2: Cloak – Activate the bellwether cloak Jacob stole to hide from enemies.
  • Ultimate Ability: Heartstopper – Summons a ghostly rifle. Use your sights to lock onto enemies and fire to deal massive damage.

Note that Jacob doesn’t have an explicit “Move” ability like Layla’s Rift, but Jacob’s Cloak grants him bonus movement speed and of course allows him to move freely around enemies.

Arkane shared these additional and exclusive details about Jacob’s background and interests.

“Growing up in a poverty-stricken mining community and moving from one foster home to another, Jacob Boyer learned early on to hide from injury. When military recruiters came to his high school, Jacob Boyer After an infantry tour in Afghanistan and Syria, he was accepted into a secret special forces unit and undertook a series of reconnaissance and combat missions. I joined the company.I am embroiled in a global conflict.

For years he was sent into dangerous situations acting in the interests of international corporations and government agencies. Sent to Redfall on orders known only to you. When he was separated from his fellow Operators, Jacob was captured by the vampire god Miss Whisper and forced into Psychic Raven and the Weird Eye for unknown purposes.

During his time in Foster Care in Ashton, West Virginia, Jacob helped take care of many cats and became very fond of them. Although he grew up hunting, he was never into hunting. Most of the time, he prefers spending time with cats rather than shooting wild animals. His Raven is a potential exception to that rule, but he tolerates him more than he hates him.

He has a flair for acoustic guitar, loves mystery novels, and is passionate about poetry, especially Emily Dickinson. All the facts he doesn’t like to share with strangers. On the one hand, he hates caves, being on camera, and people hurting cats. That last one is a particularly burning hatred. “
