Report: Apple Testing M3 Pro Chips With 12 CPU and 18 GPU Cores
Apple’s move to proprietary M-series silicon shocked the industry and continues to resonate. As we prepare to debut the latest Macs with the M2 chip, a highly respected insider has revealed some of the key specifications for the first Apple M3 chip, which is said to be already in testing. shared.
Based on insider information, Mark Garman said: bloomberg provides an overview of the upcoming Apple M3 Pro SoC, which offers 12 CPU cores, 18 graphics cores, and 36GB of onboard RAM. The M3 SoC is also claimed to be the first Apple Silicon M-series chip built at 3nm.
According to reports, the first attractive appearances of the Apple M3 Pro have appeared as developers test the system based on this new silicon for third-party app compatibility. This is one of the most popular and reliable ways to get beads on Apple’s pre-release processors.
A developer at the Apple App Store shared insider information with Gurman about what it believes to be a “base-level version of the M3 Pro coming next year.” Note that Apple will likely make some variations of his M3, as it did in the previous series, so speculation on what the M3 Max and Ultra SoC could offer will be covered later. please.
Focusing on the Apple M3 Pro first, Bloomberg sources say it will have 6 high-performance cores (P-cores) and 6 power-efficient cores (E-cores) out of the 12 CPU cores. indicates that The CPU cores come with 18 GPU cores and 36GB of RAM.
These numbers represent an overall improvement, but we don’t know about the architectural improvements that would undoubtedly be present in the M3 chip. Additionally, the new TSMC N3 process should also offer clock/efficiency advantages in addition to allowing Apple to increase silicon density/core count in the same chip size.

Garman believes the first Apple Macs with M3 chips will arrive in late 2023 or early 2024. According to his sources, the first machines to feature this 3nm silicon upgrade will include “M3-based iMacs, high-end and low-end of his MacBook Pros, and a MacBook Air.”
We cover the leak and move on to speculation without shame. Get your salt shaker ready. Applying the M3 Pro to the “regular” Max and Ultra SKUs, the M3 Max has up to 14 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores, while the M3 Ultra has up to 28 CPU cores and over 80. It may end up with GPU cores.
Of course, Apple hopes that the M3 silicon and new Macs will bring back lost sales. The Apple M2 doesn’t impress, and Bloomberg highlights a recent 31% drop in Mac sales as proof of that. But until recently, Apple has fared relatively well in the face of a general macroeconomic downturn. It looks like the generation-skipping upgrader could get more cores, more base memory, and even some delicious architectural tweaks offered by his M3 generation for that money.
