Gearbox and Hopoo Games have announced Risk of Rain Returns, a remake of the original Risk of Rain game released in 2013. Coming to PC and Nintendo Switch in 2023. Built from the ground up to include enhanced visuals and new content.

Risk of Rain Returns has an updated codebase where developers implement features and lessons learned from making Risk of Rain 2. The game will also be revamped with multiplayer, new survivors, survivor abilities, items and monsters. Chris Christodoulou will also be returning to work on the game’s soundtrack.
Gearbox acquired the Risk of Rain franchise outright last month. Chucklefish published his original Risk of Rain and Gearbox published his Risk of Rain 2 in 2020.
