Shenmue Creator Is Working on an Apple Arcade Game

Yu Suzuki, creator of Shenmue, is creating a new game for Apple Arcade and is a rail shooter titled Air Twister. The new game will be available on the iOS gaming service on June 24th of this year.

Developed by Suzuki’s studio YSNet, Air Twister is claimed as an “endless shooter” starring a young woman named Princess Arch fighting a group of enemies invading her home planet.

Use the swipe shooting mechanism to shoot at enemies flying around the screen as the Princess Arch soars through the planet’s skies and through huge mushroom fields and floating island archipelago.

One of the most striking things about the Air Twister trailer is its music by the Dutch New Age composer Valensia. The trailer results are similar to what happens when NieR: Automata’s combat theme intersects with 70’s rock opera. This is an attractive option for rail shooters dragging balloons with giant swans and giant loose whales on which everyone is riding. .floating … home? of course!

Suzuki’s latest work was Shenmue 3, which was announced in 2015, and was released in 2019 after a successful kickstarter. Previously, he worked at Sega in franchises such as Virtua Fighter, Outrun, Outrigger, Virtua Cop and, of course, Shenmue. He is also famous for Air Twister working on Space Harrier, which clearly got some clues.

Alongside Air Twister, Apple Arcade has also announced Cooking Mama: Cooking! Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins will launch from Konami on June 3rd, coming to Apple Arcade from Office Create on June 17th.
