GameStop and Target may have leaked the release date for Sonic Superstars after the Sonic Central livestream.
as discovered by Wario 64GameStop and Target, which have Sonic Superstars taking pre-orders, list a release date on their website as October 17, which is a month ahead of other Sonic game releases. However, IGN discovered that the release date was later changed to a placeholder date of December 31, 2023 on his website for both retailers.

Sega of America did not respond to IGN’s request for comment on the matter.
Sonic Superstars was announced at Summer Game Fest earlier this month with a planned fall 2023 release. Given that the game’s trailer was released only recently, it would be quite early to announce an exact release date now.
However, popular speculation holds that the game will be somewhere between August and October. August is technically a summer month, but Sonic Mania was released at that point in 2017. And while November technically counts as the month of fall, usually when Sega reveals a new Sonic game trailer that shows a winter or holiday release window such as Sonic Frontier, the game will be released a few months later. It will be released in November.
If Sonic Superstars is actually set to release on October 17th, it will compete with Alan Wake 2, which releases on the same day. It will also compete with “Super Mario Bros. Wonder” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”, which will be released on October 20.
