Sony Is Quietly Raising Prices on its Games on Steam in Certain Regions

While inflation has calmed down in many places, Sony has quietly increased prices for PlayStation games on Steam in some regions.

Games affected by inflated prices include Sackboy, Returnal (ported to PC in February), Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and God of War. according to playstation lifestyle (who confirmed the survey), the aforementioned game saw a price jump on Steam between April 14th and April 19th. However, the current price depends on the year of release. Returnal, for example, was released in 2021, while Horizon Zero Dawn could be significantly cheaper considering it was released in 2017.

  • Argentina: 4199 -5999 pesos to 8499 – 9999 pesos
  • Canada: From $59.99 – $69.99 to $64.99 – $79.99
  • Chile: 32000 – 39500 pesos to 35000 – 42000 pesos
  • China: from 279 to 379 yuan to 345 to 414 yuan
  • Columbia: 159000 – 194000 pesos to 184000 – 219000 pesos
  • Japan: 4900 yen – 5900 yen → 6490 yen – 7590 yen
  • Korea: 45880 – 58800 won to 52800 – 62800 won

Sony has not officially announced price increases for PlayStation games on Steam. It’s unclear if Steam’s price increases will affect prices at other digital and physical retail locations in their respective regions, or if more regions will see similar price increases.
