Splatoon 3 got off to an incredibly hot start in Japan. The game sold 3.45 million copies in just three days, beating out giant Nintendo Switch titles like Animal Crossing, New Horizons, and Pokemon Sword and Shield.
As reported by gameradarNintendo’s Japanese subsidiary twitter account The 3.45 million over the same period far surpassed Animal Crossing’s 1.88 million and Pokémon’s 1.365 million.
Nintendo doesn’t share Splatoon 3’s sales in other territories, including the US, but given that Animal Crossing is currently the best-selling Switch game in Japan, the numbers are likely the game’s long-term projections. It certainly shows great success.
