STALKER 2 Devs Say They Were Hacked, Ask Fans to Stay Away From Leaks

STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl developer GSC Game World has revealed that it has been hacked by a group on a Russian social network.

upon twitterthe GSC Game World team posted a statement regarding the hack, explaining what happened and revealing that the studio has faced cyberattacks since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

GSC Game World said, “Recently, the account of an employee of a collaborative application working with images was hacked.” Responsibility for this was claimed by the Russian social network community. They threaten to use it for blackmail and intimidation.

“This is not the first attempt to hack and exfiltrate data, including personal information. We have endured constant cyberattacks for over a year. We have faced attempts to harm our players and fans in any way that undermines our development process or our reputation.”

GSC Game World asks fans to “refrain from viewing or distributing information” regarding STALKER 2 in case of leaks. The studio said the outdated and work-in-progress material is not representative of the final product.

Elsewhere in the statement, GSC Game World reiterated its “unwavering commitment to help” Ukraine, adding that “any attempt to intimidate or intimidate us is utterly futile.” Finally, the team expressed his gratitude to the STALKER 2 community, concluding, “Your support is our inspiration.”
