Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Release Date Delayed Six Weeks

EA announced today that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is being delayed. Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel will release on April 28, about six weeks after its original date.

In a statement posted on social media, director Stig Asmussen explained the reasons behind the delay, saying the team is focused on polishing the final release while improving performance.

For the past three years, the Jedi team here at Respawn have put their heart and soul into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. We are proud to announce the completion of the next chapter in the Cal Kestis story. We are now fully focused on the final stage. Bug fixes to enhance performance, stability, polish and most importantly player experience.

Jedi: Survivor is a direct response to community feedback, offering vast destinations to explore, advanced combat and traversal, and of course, the continuation of Cal and BD’s stories. Creating this game really made us a better team. We’ve worked hard on every level to make it the Star Wars sequel that fans have come to expect from his Respawn and Lucasfilm Games.

To ensure the team meets Respawn’s quality standards, gives the team the time they need, and achieves the level of polish fans deserve, we’ve added an important six weeks to the release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Goes Global It will be released on April 28th.

Thank you EA and Respawn for giving us the time to give our players the best possible experience.

Respawn Entertainment CEO and Group GM Vince Zampella also issued a statement, stating that Respawn is “dedicated to making games that are fun to play.”

“We are proud of the game this team has created and giving them the extra time will allow us to deliver a great Star Wars experience to our players on April 28,” said Zampella. I’m here.

First announced last May, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the first-turn follow-up to Respawn’s series, which has attracted over 20 million players across multiple releases. Featuring Cal Kestis as a Jedi escaping the Purge, Fallen Order won praise for his outstanding combat and a generally strong story, but was criticized for being unpolished.

Polish has been a particular problem across EA for the last few years. In 2021, Battlefield 2042 was heavily criticized for issues at launch, and while the development team has worked diligently to address community feedback, it still suffers from perception issues. This was one of several reasons for delaying the Jedi. Survivor, IGN understands.

I had a chance to check out Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in December. You can check out the 14 gameplay changes we’ve seen so far in the video above. Cal also spoke to Cal Kestis actor Cameron Monaghan about his desire to see him team up with Yaddle. [Editor’s Note: In fairness, that would be pretty cool].

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on April 28th. See our other biggest releases for 2023 here.
