Street Fighter 6 to Reportedly Have Cross-Play, Rollback Netcode Confirmed to Return

Street Fighter 6 may not arrive until 2023, but we’re starting to learn a lot about the game, including the return of rollback netcodes and the reported cross-play.

Takayuki Nakayama, director of Street Fighter 6, talked to IGN’s Mitchell Salzman to confirm that the rollback net code would actually be part of the next fighter, but was seen in Street Fighter 5. Not the same as the one.

“As you know, Street Fighter 5 also had a rollback net code,” Nakayama said. “But for SF6, we have rollback net code, but it’s not the same as we had in SF5, which is what we’re building from scratch.

“A lot of effort is being put into developing net code. It’s not just net code engineers involved. We have a seamless experience and it really feels good. Now for that. I’m working hard. “

When it comes to cross-play, popular streamer and YouTuber Maximilian Dood talks to the developers behind Street Fighter 6, and he writes on Twitter that the game has cross-play.

IGN talked to Street Fighter 6 producer Shuhei Matsumoto about cross-play. He didn’t confirm or deny this feature, but the team said they “want to aim.”

“We understand the importance of it, that’s what we’re working hard on, and that’s what we want to aim for,” Matsumoto said.

I asked Capcom for an explanation, but the company isn’t ready to talk more about cross-play or make sure it’s part of Street Fighter 6.

A Capcom spokeswoman told IGN, “We are not currently providing additional comments on cross-play or rollbacks. Stay tuned for more to be shared in the future.”

Street Fighter 6 has done a great job with the latest State of Play. Since then, I’ve learned a lot about the latest entries in the legendary fighting franchise, including Guile’s return, character-specific provocations, and unveiling ceremonies. Chun-Li’s new theme.

IGN’s Mitchell Saltzman contributed to this report.
