System Shock Delayed to May on PC, No Date Revealed for Consoles

The long-awaited remake of System Shock has been delayed until May on PC, two months after its previously scheduled March launch.

Shodan’s return is still imminent, but a communication received from Citadel Station has brought news that System Shock’s release date has been postponed, with the remake set to hit PC on May 30th.

“We were hoping to have the game on the market by the end of March,” Nightdive Studios admitted in a post. vapor “But it turned out to be out of our reach. After all, we’re just humans (unlike Shodan!),” he said on Tuesday.

“The console edition of System Shock will be released on PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series S|X in due course,” the developer added. “More information on this as soon as we get it.”

Nightdive Studios first launched a Kickstarter campaign for the System Shock remake in 2016. In total, the project raised him over $1.3 million after initially setting a goal of $900,000.

After several years of development, Nightdive’s Larry Kuperman announced last June that the System Shock remake was “nearly done,” although the studio’s goal was to make the release version “as close to perfection as possible.” said it is.

The original System Shock released on PC in 1994. This his sci-fi shooter drops players into the Citadel Station, where they assume the role of hackers tasked with ruining the plans of a rogue AI named SHODAN.

The remake takes the classic gameplay of the original and adds “stunning HD visuals, revamped controls, and an all-new interface.” IGN said he’ll actually get a remake in 2022 and was impressed with its “haunting sci-fi vibe and breathtaking environments.”
