Tears of the Kingdom Carries on a Breath of the Wild Tribute to Satoru Iwata

With Breath of the Wild, released almost two years after the death of the late Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo seems to have paid tribute to Mr. Iwata in the form of Mt. Satori and its resident mountain master. . And now, in the sequel, Tears of the Kingdom, that tribute is extended even further with his one of gaming’s most mysterious hidden encounters.

In Breath of the Wild’s Mount Satori, players who visited on certain nights could witness a beautiful ghostly creature called the Lord of the Mountain, and witness a large gathering of bluepies. This is truly a breathtaking moment for anyone who stumbles upon it, and many other contextual clues in the game suggest that Everything is a way of honoring Iwata’s memory.

Tears of the Kingdom also includes Mount Satori, but it goes a step further with the lord creature of the mountain, Bloopy, and the beauty that surrounds it.

Hyrule is dotted with eight cherry blossom trees, including the one on Mount Satori. If you offer fruit to the offering trays in front of these trees, a creature known as the Lord of the Mountains, Satori, will appear before you. Satori then marks dozens of sights in the nearby area with a glowing blue aura. You can use these auras to seek out hidden caves containing Bloopies, Bubble Frogs, and other treasures and secrets. The aura disappears over time, but can be regained by offering another fruit to the shrine.

Additionally, collecting Bubbul Gems from Bubbulfrogs can yield multiple rewards. Of particular note are his three pieces of armor called Mystic Robe, Mystic Trouser, and Mystic Headpiece, which resemble Satori’s aesthetic. The last piece takes a lot of time to collect due to the sheer amount of Bubble Gems required, so you’ll likely run into multiple satoris on your way to this awesome outfit.
