Tears of the Kingdom Sells 10 Million Copies in 3 Days

The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears sold a staggering 10 million copies in its first three days, making it the fastest-selling title in the series’ history.

The early sales milestone also makes this the fastest-selling Switch game ever in the Americas and the fastest-selling Nintendo title of any system launched in the region.

Nintendo also revealed that the entire Zelda series had sold 130 million units as of March of this year, with no additional 10 million copies of Tears of the Kingdom at all.

“Many players are returning to Hyrule with new mysteries and possibilities, and with the record-breaking launch of The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom of Tears for Nintendo Switch, we are excited to see what they will bring to the game. We can’t wait to see what the games and stories they share next,” said Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and communications.

“We would like to thank all our fans who have shown their passion for The Legend of Zelda over the years. Sales numbers for the latest installment continue to show strong momentum for both the series and Nintendo Switch this year.”

In IGN’s 10/10 review, we described Tears of the Kingdom as a “victory” of the game, raising the bar “higher and higher above the clouds” while “already feeling fulfilling beyond expectations.” Expand and evolve the world.
