Ubisoft Appears to Be Removing Access to Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD, Even for Owners

Ubisoft removes access to Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD on Steam. This is also true for users who have already purchased the game.

As Nors3 discovered on Twitter (below), you can no longer buy games on Steam following instructions from Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD is no longer sold on Steam at the publisher’s request,” the notice on that page states.

However, in addition to being excluded from sale, a second notice will be added stating, “This title will no longer be accessible after September 1, 2022.”

Ubisoft announced last week that it would shut down online connections for 15 games on the same day. LiberationHD is one of them, but there was no suggestion that access to the game would be completely removed. “You will not be able to link your Ubisoft account or use online features in-game,” Ubisoft said of the PC version. “In addition, DLC installation and access will not be available.”

This version of Liberation, the HD port for the original PlayStation Vita game, is also free access to Assassin’s Creed 3, but for $ 39.99, users who have purchased and paid for the original version will basically buy it again. need to do it. ..

Removing access to games paid by customers, at least without offering a refund, is relatively unprecedented on Steam, but Ubisoft seems to set the precedent in Liberation HD.

IGN is seeking comments from both Ubisoft and Steam’s parent company Valve.
