Baldur’s Gate 3 Used ‘Intimacy Co-Ordinators’ to Help Actors Feel Comfortable During Romantic Scenes

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has hired a specially trained intimacy coordinator to ensure that the actors feel comfortable during romantic scenes.

In an interview with BBC, actors Jennifer English and Devora Wilde, who play the half-elf cleric Shadowheart and the Gissianki warrior Laezel, respectively, praised Larian for hiring an intimacy coordinator. “I never felt ‘crazy’ during a recording session, and my threshold for ‘crazy’ is pretty low,” English said.

While intimacy coordinators are now commonly used in film and television productions, Larian said he believes he was one of the first studios to use intimacy coordinators during the development of traditional video games. In 2022 he was used as an Intimacy Coordinator in Immortality, but that game is more of an interactive film video game than a traditional video game.

However, no word on whether they were used for the now infamous bear sex scene in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an expansive, open-ended Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game from the makers of the Divinity: Original Sin series. Larian Announces Pushing PC Release Date A Month Forward, from August 31 to August 3, to avoid conflict with the likes of Bethesda’s upcoming behemoth Starfield, which is scheduled for early September. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 version has been slightly delayed to his September 6th, and the Xbox Series X and S versions have no release date (Find out more about Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Holdup here).

talk to IGNWinke said the developers expect a standard playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 to take between 75 and 100 hours. However, a player who wants to “get it all done” should expect twice that number for him.
