Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is Bringing Back Hardcore Mode for Season 2

Infinity Ward has brought back Call of Duty’s hardcore mode for Modern Warfare Season 02 to not only cheers, but also complaints from the community calling for multiplayer support for the popular shooter.

The news was revealed in a tweet confirming that Hardcore was back and urging players to follow studio blog for additional updates. As the name suggests, Hardcore mode is for more realistic Call of Duty players with the HUD removed and bullets more powerful. It’s been a staple of Call of Duty since the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007, but was absent from last year’s Modern Warfare 2 launch.

Hardcore mode is part of a long wish list for Modern Warfare 2 players, including red dots on the minimap, map voting, and issues with getting extra ducks. Fans have also asked for additional maps to enhance his three maps currently in-game.

This is all part of the big Season 2 updates for both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, both delayed by about two weeks in response to player feedback. We are planning to add a few more maps, new weapons and ranked play in Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 was released in October, and multiplayer reviews called it “the best CoD multiplayer experience I’ve had in a while.” This was followed in November by Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. It said it was a “positive update” thanks to positive additions like proximity chat and an updated ping system.

Season 2 is set to release on February 15th. Infinity Ward said it will release details later this week.
