Dead Space Remake Shows Off Its First Gameplay

EA Motive has released a new trailer for Dead Space Remake that showcases some of the nightmarish horrors that await players in the sci-fi survival horror game.

Scary teaser to follow Dead Space Protagonist Isaac Clarke navigates eerie, echoing corridors and workspaces aboard the mining ship USG Ishimura, where something has gone terribly wrong. He is shown prowling around the ship, surveying the situation and fending off Necromorphs entering a seemingly dangerous path.

The game has a new damage system called Peeling, which actually allows players to shoot off Necromorph flesh. It’s a grotesque visual treatment that doubles as a kind of Diet Health his bar for his enemies, like the lights attached to Isaac’s Clark’s spine.

Motive’s Dead Space effort is being rebuilt from the ground up in EA’s Frostbite engine, helmed by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla game director Eric Baptizat and creative director Roman Campos-Oriola, formerly known as “Everything new assets, new character models, [and] A new environment” based on the original game design.

The game’s developers enlisted avid fans to deliver all-new gameplay content and improvements while staying true to the original game’s vision. Every six weeks, the remake team consulted its own community council to solicit input on various “polarizing” topics during the development of the project.

Dead Space releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 27, 2023.
