EVO 2022: Bandai Namco Teases Next Tekken Game
Bandai Namco has shared just a few of its upcoming Tekken projects.
On stage at EVO 2022, after the Tekken 7 Grand Finals, Bandai Namco shared a trailer for the upcoming Tekken 7 update. The trailer ended with an iconic Tekken cutscene where Kazuya Mishima throws his father, Heihachi Mishima, off a cliff.
When the cutscene zooms in on Kazuya’s face, it instantly switches from the 1994 PlayStation version of Kazuya to a very modern version of the character. “Get Ready” appears on the screen before the trailer cuts to black. You can watch the teaser by skipping to his 1:40 mark in the video below.

Series director Katsuhiro Harada made a brief appearance on EVO’s official stream, but didn’t elaborate on the bullying at all. We don’t know for sure yet, but it’s probably safe to assume that this teaser refers to Tekken 8. However, the teaser explicitly uses footage from the original Tekken series. There’s still no official information from Bandai Namco on what this project is about, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Tekken 7 was first released in 2017 and has received a ton of DLC support since launch. In his review of Tekken 7, he gave the game a 9.5, saying that the game “strikes a fine balance between being accessible to newcomers to the series and retaining much of its technical tradition. .
