EVO 2022: SNK Announces Development of New Fatal Fury Game

On stage at EVO 2022, SNK announced that a new entry in the long-dormant Fatal Fury: Garo series is in development. It will be the first series work since 1999’s “Garo MARK OF THE WOLVES”. There was no release window or platform name, as the announcement was only paired with a short teaser trailer and a single piece of artwork.

SNK is currently only calling the game “New Fatal Fury/Garou,” but the teaser trailer rock howardthe protagonist of that title.

A short teaser trailer tells us what to expect in the game’s story, including ‘The legendary city still breathes’, ‘Hungry wolves roam’ and ‘A new destiny hidden in the dark’. gives you three mysterious hints. Along with The Rock’s reveal, two silhouettes of him were shown in the background of the trailer. These two characters appear to be Billy Kane, a recurring character throughout the series, and Kane R. Heinlein, Garou’s final boss.

The Fatal Fury franchise, also known as the Garou series, began in 1991 with the release of Fatal Fury: King of Fighters on the Neo Geo. The series continued in Neo Geo throughout the 1990s until the release of Garou: Mark of the Wolves in the late 1990s.The series stopped after that entry.

The series has been dormant for over 20 years, but many of its characters live on through SNK’s King of Fighters series, which combines characters from Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and more. Characters such as Terry Bogard, Andy Bogard, and Joe Higashi are staples of the KOF series. Rock Howard, Geese Howard, etc. have been added as DLC characters to KOF XV.
