God of War: Ragnarok Devs Didn’t Realise That Allies Spoiling Puzzles Would Annoy Players

God of War: Ragnarok developer Santa Monica Studio didn’t realize that having allies ruin the in-game puzzles was annoying for players who wanted to solve everything themselves.

As reported by game radarRagnarok Narrative Director Matt Sophos and Story Lead Richard Gaubert Min Max A feature that fans expressed as a point of frustration was an oversight by the development team.

“It wasn’t really revealed until after the game was released, because even when we playtested it, we didn’t see any feedback that the characters were talking too much or spoiling too fast.” says Sophos. “The timing of the first hint was too strong, he should have made his countdown timer longer until something happened.”

“Until the game came out, it was like, ‘Okay.’ Had we known that, we would have responded,” added Gaubert. “It will never happen again.”

Despite the frustration expressed by players, the developers have not clarified whether a patch will be released to address the hint system, either by slowing it down or offering options to disable it entirely. I did.

This may be partly because Ragnarok has sold 11 million copies as of February 1st and was extremely well received. It has also won several awards at the New York Game Awards, The Game Awards, and more.
