Here’s The Coolest Thing We Got At Comic-Con

Many IGN staff are now plunging hot wires into a bloody Petri dish to see who secretly caught the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive COVID variant, and I’m very pleased to bring it back from the show. This is an action figure based on the poster of John Carpenter’s “The Thing from Planets” provided by NECA.

NECA San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Exclusive Action Figure

NECA has always pulled out all the SDCC-only stops (even if there is no actual tournament), and this year was no exception, but this particular number was worth writing down. Based on the poster of the classic horror movie Drew Struzan, this 7-inch figure features interchangeable faces to recreate stylized rays and LED features for full effect. I have. This is clearly intended as a stand-alone display piece, but there are plenty of articulations for anyone who wants to set up a Kurt Russell diorama torching him with a flamethrower. Even if you put it in the box, it looks great without unnecessary brands or logos, thanks to the lenticular package with the original poster.

You see, this is The Thing ... Yeah. that's it. Right there.

Another NECA limitation is a 4-pack Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figure (not a technically mutated or turtle, but actually 1), including premuted (IE, human) versions of Splinter, Bebop, Rocksteady, and Baxter. Only one is a ninja). Stockman. Pre-mutated turtles are also there as a small accessory and are ready to fall from the jar into the sewer-or you’ll probably get lost under your desk.

Speaking of the dreaded green ones created by improper handling of liquids, there is also the 7-inch Gretathe Gremlin figure. Decorated in full wedding attire, this figure faithfully recreates the final shot of Gremlins 2: The New Batch and the unpleasant feelings of being seen as a little kid.

High fantasy, high fashion.

There were also four packs of Dungeons and Dragons figures based on “Lost Wave,” a replica of an unproduced set from the original 4-inch LJN toy line, reproduced from the original prototype. NECA made its own logo look like the LJN logo. This is a very fun detail.

Zombo fans around the world are ecstatic about the resurrection of Zombo

Finally, who doesn’t want an 8-inch Zombie figure from the upcoming Munsters big-screen remake of Rob Zombie? You know, Zombo! This may be the most esoteric of the pile of action figures based on deep-cut pop culture references. As far as we know, Zombo appeared in one episode of the original Munsters show, he’s back in the movie … and the one who’s most excited about Zombo’s return is, well, Rob Zombie himself.

Tournament monopoly is notoriously difficult to track after the tournament is over, but keep an eye on it NECAonline.com Check if you have any plans for further releases in the future. Maybe during the New York Comic Con? A big thank you to NECA for providing the samples to IGN.
