Horizon MMO Is Reportedly in the Works From Sony and NCSoft

Horizon is reportedly getting its own MMO from Sony and NCSoft.

according to MTN (via VGC), Horizon franchises including Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West head online in MMOs from the makers of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.

NCSoft is said to be currently recruiting for a project called “Project H” in its job advertisements.

However, NCSoft declined to confirm the game’s existence, stating that it is “difficult to confirm information regarding unannounced projects currently in development.”

Horizon Zero Dawn launched in 2017 and begins to tell Aloy’s story. Aloy is when a young woman ventures into a post-apocalyptic tribal world overrun by robotic creatures.

The game received critical acclaim. IGN’s own review gave him a 9.3/10 and said: Its main activity – combat – is extremely satisfying thanks to the diverse designs and behaviors of the mechanical creatures that roam the land, each of which requires careful consideration and defeat. Imaginative as it may have been, the mission is compelling thanks to the central mystery that took me down a deep rabbit hole to a truly surprising and moving conclusion. . “

Following Zero Dawn was Horizon Forbidden West, which released on PS5 earlier this year.

According to VGC, developer Guerrilla Games has long planned to develop multiplayer in the Horizon franchise, and co-op was initially planned for the first game. However, this feature has been deprecated to allow teams to focus on “other areas”.

Sony was reportedly keen to include co-op in Forbidden West, but Guerrilla Games shelved this and decided to include multiplayer in a future project (either a sequel or an online spin-off).

However, this push to MMOs comes after Sony earlier this year announced plans to launch 10 live service games by March 31, 2026 through a partnership with Bungie.

“Through close collaboration with Bungie and PlayStation Studios, we aim to launch 10 or more live service games by the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026,” said Sony CFO Hiroki Totoku. increase.

Clearly, Sony wants to take this further with Horizon.
