San Diego Comic-Con, also known as SDCC, returns this July. If it’s similar to last year’s event, you can expect announcements and teasers for the big series we know and love, including sci-fi, superheroes, and fantasy, throughout this multi-day event.
SDCC is known for bringing together creators from comics, film, television and collectibles to connect with fans through panels, discussions and various art forms. When is SDCC 2023?
The annual SDCC event will be held July 19-23 at the San Diego Convention Center. See below for actual in-person opening hours for the SDCC exhibit floors. See also a detailed breakdown of what panels are on each day.
How to watch SDCC 2023
As long as you don’t attend in person (and get your badges before they sell out), you can comfortably watch Comic-Con coverage anywhere you have a reliable internet connection. IGN will be covering Comic-Con with its own live show, reporting and reacting to all the news that comes out of the event. We will be sharing more details about what we have planned soon.

What to expect at SDCC 2023
We expect announcements and teasers for the biggest sci-fi, superhero and fantasy series. special guest speaker Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Frank Miller and J. Michael Stratchinsk have been confirmed for 2023, and SDCC sponsors include DC, Marvel Studios, Crunchyroll, Disney+, FOX, AMC, Including NBC, ABC, etc.
As per the schedule so far, the first two days of SDCC (July 20-21) will feature games such as Spider-Man 2, Pokémon, TMNT, the Harley Quinn animated series and The Boys spin-off Gen V. and exciting panels covering entertainment. Invincible, The Walking Dead, Rick and Morty, etc.
Will Marvel be at Comic-Con this year?
Marvel reportedly won’t be hosting a panel at SDCC this year.

History of SDCC
Did you know that SDCC started in the 1970s? The goal of the SDCC non-profit founders was popular art like sci-fi movies and fantasy that they thought should be recognized more broadly than just comics. The format was also to cover. The event was originally called “San Diego’s West Coast Comic Convention” in 1972, but became known as “San Diego Comic-Con” (SDCC) in 1973, and later became “Comic-Con International: San Diego” in 1995 ( CCI).
Still popularly known as SDCC, this special competition continues to be a favorite among fans of sci-fi, anime and fantasy for its incredible cosplay each year. 130,000 people attended each event.
