Sega Announces Mega Drive Mini 2, With 50 Games Included

Sega has announced the Mega Drive Mini 2 with over 50 Mega Drives and Mega CD games (Sega Genesis and Sega CD in North America) pre-installed.

Sonic CDs, Virtua Racing, Sylpheed and more are all included in the $ 9,980 price tag, along with a new Mega Drive port in Fantasy Zone that wasn’t released on the original console. Instead, based on its sequel, Super Fantasy Zone, Sega promised to port the Master System or arcade version to the Megadrive and describe it as a “mysterious new work” to other arcade ports.

As reported by the Video Game ChronicleThe console was announced during a live stream in Japan and will be released in Japan on October 27th, but no international release has yet been confirmed.

The original Sega Mega Drive Mini was launched in 2019 and has 42 games, including those that didn’t arrive properly in the west, and its sequel seems to also allow access to previously hard-to-find games.

Released when retro consoles such as the “classic” version of Nintendo’s NES and the original PlayStation were all the rage, IGN said the Sega Mega Drive Mini was the best ever made. ..

In a 9/10 review, IGN said: “The SEGA Genesis Mini isn’t perfect, but it’s as close to perfect as any retro all-in-one mini console to date.”
