TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Receives Major New Update

Konami has released the first major update for TMNT: Cowabunga Collection, which brings several improvements and fixes to the 13-game bundle.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 4: Turtles in Time for SNES is now fully multiplayer and improved online functionality is the highlight of this update. Konami also announced that TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project will have an online mode in a future update.

Otherwise, this update includes customizable lobby sizes for two arcade games and an automatic frame delay option to adjust input lag depending on the number of players. We’ve also added support for arcade sticks on both PlayStation and Xbox.

  • Changed home menu icon to box art. (switch)
  • PS4 arcade controllers are now supported. PS4 joystick support implemented (PS5)
  • Xbox arcade sticks are now supported. Xbox joystick support implemented (XB1/XSX)
  • When creating an online lobby, players can now set the lobby size for two arcade games.Host can be limited to 2, 3 or 4 players
  • When creating an online lobby, players can now set the frame delay to ‘Auto’.Setting this will adjust the input lag depending on the number of players
  • New expansion added to SNES and Super Nintendo TMNT: Tournament Fighters.Ultimate Attack can now be activated by ON/OFF in story mode
  • New expansion added to Super Nintendo TMNT: Tournament Fighters. “Group mode” can now be turned ON/OFF. (Japanese version only)
  • A new extension has been added to Arcade US/JP Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from 1 to 5
  • A new extension has been added to Arcade US Turtles in Time.The number of lives per coin can be adjusted from 1 to 8

  • While ON, restart the game from the beginning after the credits end
  • Added new button actions to “Arcade US/JP TMNT”, “Arcade US Turtles in Time”, “SNES/Super Famicom Turtles in Time”, “Genesis/MegaDrive Hyperstone Heist”
  • Players can now assign buttons to “Special”. By pressing “Attack” and “Jump” at the same time, this button makes it easier to perform special attacks.
  • New color enhancements added to all Gameboy games. Added GBC mode ON/OFF
  • A new “Color Palette” option has been added to the pause menu for all Gameboy games
  • In addition to other filters, players can choose from four color palettes: 1. Black and White, 2. Gameboy Green, 3. Gameboy Pocket Green, 4. Gameboy Light Blue.
  • Various game audio and main menu adjustments
  • Added NES Tournament Fighter and GEN Tournament Fighter pages to the Strategy Guide
  • Additional pages for GEN Tournament Fighters and GEN Hyperstone Heist have been added to the Strategy Guide.

Issues fixed:

  • Fixed the German translation of “Repeat Punch” on page 11 of the Strategy Guide.
  • The music player now displays the correct icon for the cassette tape icon for arcade TMNT shows
  • Replaced the screenshot of Turtle’s Hint 3 on page 5 of the strategy book (Super Famicom Turtles in Time).
  • SNES Turtles in Time enhanced stage selection now works even after changing settings in options
  • In Hyperstone Heist, enhanced stage selection now works when selecting 2 players
  • Enhanced easy menu navigation for TMNT III Manhattan Project (NES) /TMNT 2 The Manhattan Project (Famicom)
  • SNES Tournament Fighter Extra Credits enhancements are now working
  • The Museum’s SNES Turtles in Time Manual contains pages 18-19 missing.

In their 7/10 review of the base game, IGN said: Note the increased input lag over the original. Everyone says this is still a great collection for fans.
