Sony has revealed that God of War: Ragnarok is the fastest-selling first-party game in PlayStation history.
As revealed in the tweet (below), God of War: Ragnarok sold 5.1 million copies in its debut week. As the post points out, this naturally means that it also set a franchise record for God of War.
That figure probably includes both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 copies, as well as physical and digital sales, but few games that span the two platforms achieve such records. It goes back and forth in front of it.

By comparison, God of War (2018) has sold 23 million units on PlayStation 4 and PC as of November 2022. audience.
It’s also Sony’s biggest PC launch to date, and it’s certainly possible for Sony to bring God of War: Ragnarok to PC and boost sales there.
Sony Santa Monica put a lot of effort into the game, and even villains like Heimdall, Odin, and Thor took great care to bring their characters to life.
